The National Flat Track Racing Association came to Moberly's 24 Raceway on Friday evening June 1. Special Thanks went to Mid-America Harley-Davidson of Columbia for their sponsorship in bringing this action to the high-banked oval. Riders (as they are called) represented eight states as they enjoyed this wonderful facility in Missouri. Ten classes of motorcycles had many men, boys, and 4 lady riders with ages ranging from 9 years to 62. All the races (heats and features) began from a standing start with the flagman right on the track. Mike Anderson, a rider with over 50 years experience in motorcycle racing, provided "protection" information. Basically the three necessities for the riders are a good full-face helmet, a steel-soled left shoe, and leathers with a hard plastic back protector. Classes that raced were Pro-Quads, Vintage 375cc and under, Pro-Unlimited Air-Cooled Singles, 85cc, Pro-Sports, 125cc - 400cc Amateur, Vintage Pro-Twins, Modern Open Amateurs, Modern Open Pros, and 600cc Pros. It was a very exciting evening, and many positive comments came from the crowd and sponsor on the evening, and from the riders on the facility! The one repeated the most often was "need more of this in central Missouri". Anyone interested in this organization may connect to their website NFTRA.com.

"Welcome to beautiful 24 Raceway" was the greeting from track announcer Doug Mealy to a nice crowd of race fans on Sat. May 19, 2007. Races full of action resulted in 3 new and 2 repeat winners, plus a couple of spectacular crashes. Drivers Mike Wolfe (Hobby #11w) and Derrick Agee (Sportsman #14 Jr.) escaped serious injury but will most likely suffer the pain for awhile. Both were transported to University Hospital in Columbia where they were released on Sunday afternoon. The best goes out to them for a speedy recovery.
It was great to have flagman Kenny Poole return to the flagstand after back surgery.

TOO MUCH RAIN, MUDDY CONDITIONS CAUSE 24 RACEWAY TO CANCEL MAY 5 RACE PROGRAM With this past rainy week's effects still lingering, 24 Raceway has had to cancel out of the night's racing for this first weekend in May. The track is super saturated, and there's simply too much standing water in both the infield and the parking areas to allow for a hassle-free night at the Moberly track. The track info phone is 660-269-9300, or visit the website of ww.24racewayinmoberly.com for more info. For next weekend, May 12, the annual Sportsman Special is again set to take place with a 25 lap feature and a $400 prize to go to the winner! Gates will open at 4pm with hot laps getting under way at 6pm. Racing in the "heats" for all five classes follow at 7pm. The tickets for this night stay the same at $10 for adults and $5 for kids 6 to 12. Under 6 years of age are free. The popular family pass is $25 and allows 2 adults and 3 kids into the grandstands. Pit passes go for $22. Driver registration for the Sportsman class will be $40 for track members and will include the pit pass. Joining the MFA Sportsman Class will be the other four classes of A-modifieds & the Moberly Motors B-modifieds, Hobby Stocks and the 4 Cylinder Hornets. As always, come to Moberly for "Dirt Track Racing at its Best" at 24 Raceway this next Saturday. Ron Lueck - Track Spokesman
