ROLL CAGE
- Six point roll cage required, must be not less than 1.50 inch outside
diameter and must have a wall thickness of at least .095 inches. Rear hoop
must have “X” bracing configuration. Rear kickers required. Must have 1.5
inch O.D. crossbar in top halo. Drivers head must not protrude above cage
with helmet on and strapped in driver’s seat. Roll cage must be securely
supported and braced. No brazing or soldering allowed. No sharp ends outside
of door. Petty bar on driver side mandatory. Three horizontal door bars and
steel plate on driver side mandatory – You can skin out the door to put
these in. Two horizontal door bars on passenger side. Both sides must have
vertical bracing from top to bottom door bars. Door bars both vertical &
horizontal must be minimum 1.5 inch O.D. and .095inch wall thickness. MUST
HAVE PICKUP CHAINS ON FRONT AND REAR!

SAFETY
– ALUM RACING SEATS MANDATORY and must be mounted to roll cage. No
fiberglass seats allowed. Five point safety belts, sub belt and shoulder
harness required. Belts must be mounted to frame and cage. Must have 4 bars
(3/8” dia.) spaced evenly apart on left side of windshield opening with mud
screen attached. SFI-approved full fire suit required. NO KART SUITS OR
FLAME RETARDENT COVERALLS. Two piece fire suits allowed. Fire retardant
gloves, shoes, head sock and underwear recommended. Helmets are required
and must be Snell SA2000, SA2005 or SFI 31.1/2005. Helmet must be worn at
all times car is on the track and must accompany vehicle at time of
inspection. Fire retardant neck braces (or head and neck restraint)
mandatory. Roll bar padding required in driver compartment. Fire retardant
padding recommended. Fire extinguisher is required and must be securely
mounted within driver reach.
Driver-side window net mandatory (no string type nets). Window net to be
mounted so latch is at top front of drivers’ side window. Arm restraints
optional. Additional safety equipment optional.
Kill switch required within easy reach of driver and must be clearly marked
“OFF” and “ON”.

BRAKES
- Four wheel working stock brakes. Absolutely no altering.

FUEL
- Pump Gas only. No altered fuel. No performance additives.
Fuel cells mandatiory, 12 gallon max.
Must be securely fastened inside car anywhere behind driver by at least two
1/8 inch thick solid steel straps, two inches wide around cell, above level
of stock floor pans and trunk floor. Fuel cell must be in steel container.
All cell mounts must be steel, attached to frame cage. No adjustable fuel
cell mounts. Firewall must be between driver and fuel cell. Fuel cell vent’s
must have check valves. Fuel lines through driver compartment must be in
metal pipe or metal conduit. No fuel filters in driver compartment.

TIRES AND WHEELS
- Stock wheels only. All 4 wheels must be the same size. Tire size: 13 – 16”
D.O.T. approved passenger tires only. No mud tires allowed.

ENGINE AND CARBURETOR
- No turbos or super chargers. No quad 4’s or 4 valves per cylinder. Four
cylinder only. No modifications to engine. Maximum cylinder compression is
190 pounds. No ignition changing chip. Air conditioner condenser and A/C
pump may be removed. Inertia switch (fuel shut off - Ford) may be removed.
Rear seat may be removed. Electric cooling fan may be wired to run
constantly. Stock steering column must start with key. Lead weight
optional but must be fastened with two 1/2" bolts and painted white with car
number on it.

BODIES
- 1980 or newer American made only - Ford, GM, Mopar. Hood and trunk lids
must have hinges. Hood latches must be removed and two hood pins are
required in the front part of the hood. All tail lights, head lights, side
mirrors and all window glass must be removed. Doors must be welded or bolted
shut. No body modifications. Stock ride height. No removing of sheet metal
such as hood, trunk, doors, etc. If O.E. body parts are unavailbly you can
use same gauge steel to make replacement, MUST BE STOCK APPEARING. MUST HAVE
PICKUP CHAINS FRONT AND REAR.

Car Numbers:
All cars must have large legible numbers on both doors, top, front and back
in contrasting color from body

DRIVE TRAIN
- Front wheel drive only. Stock suspension in stock position. Spring rubbers
O.K. Stock transmission. No locked differential.

Weight:
Minimum weight is one pound per CC of engine size with driver after
race.

CAR CLAIM
- $800 cash claim on whole car. First four position finishers (whether
running or not) are subject to car claim by any other driver finishing fifth
on back in feature and on the same lap as the fourth place car. Driver is
allowed to make one claim per event, regardless of outcome of that claim.
In case of multiple claims, car will go to qualified claiming driver
finishing farthest back. Driver making claim must drive his race car
immediately after finish of feature, under its own power, directly to the
claiming area. Only drivers and officials allowed in claiming area. Claims
must be made within 5 minutes of end of feature race and claim must be
accepted or denied within 5 minutes of offer.
All claims must be made to track official. Only drivers may claim. Refusal
to sell forfeits all points and cash and contingency winnings for that
night, and car and driver are suspended from the Hornet class for the next
two weeks. No driver may claim more than one car per regular season, plus
number of times you have been claimed. Must participate in two consecutive
events to claim.
Remember this is a beginner class
and is for fun.
These are not race cars, they are
cars you race.
