 8-20-2005 - Rain out

By: Ron Lueck

Racing for the night of August 20th at 24 Raceway has been canceled due to the two successive morning rains and the extremely muddy conditions.

After both the August 13th and the August 20th racing programs were canceled at 24 Raceway in Moberly, MO, the tickets for what was to be "Orscheln Night at the Races" will now be honored the following weekend of August 27, 2005. This is to be the final weekend of racing for the 2005 Season Points. This promises to be a busy night with Scouting Night and the Dream Factory night also being scheduled. Both boy and girl scouts in uniform will be admitted free of charge. TV commercials regarding getting kids into Scouting, and hosted by Hornet class driver Kenny Edwards, are being shown regularly on Mediacom cable stations. And Dream Factory night is returning again this Saturday, August 27 at 24 Raceway in conjunction with Bentz GM Country of Macon and the Mid-Missouri Corvette Club. A Friday night benefit auction, furnished food and 50's/60's dance, all will take place at the Bentz parking lot in Macon. And on Saturday, a "Shine & Show for the Kids" will take place with a judging of the Corvettes at Bentz, along with a Magic Mile Cruise from Macon to Moberly, and then on to 24 Raceway to enjoy a night of "dirt track racing at it's best", with a dollar of each ticket sold to go to benefit the Dream Factory. More information regarding times can be heard on the local radio and television stations during the upcoming week.

Racing at its Best begins at 7pm, with a driver's meeting, followed by hot laps, starting at 6pm. Kids ticket prices are $3 for ages 6 to 12, and adults are $9 for the grandstand seating. Pit passes are only $20. Watch the website for more information on these and the other upcoming events of: the annual Speed Bowl on Sept. 2 & 3, the W.O.W. 360 sprints on Sept. 10, and the B-mod special on Sept. 17.

The two-night Speed Bowl 2005 will have qualifying for both A- & B-modifieds, Sportsman and Hobby Stocks on the Friday night, and their respective, extended feature races on Saturday night Sept. 3. The Thunder Trucks will be doing their racing on Friday, while the 4 cylinder Hornets will be doing their qualifying and racing all on the Saturday night
