Ok, ok, if the promise from the weather folks all week long is for a
beautiful-but-cool Saturday and Sunday, watch out! As of Friday morning, that
forecast still stood without any glitches. By Friday evening, just for good
measure, a 30% chance of showers was added to the mix. And for both Saturday and
Sunday, the guys who somehow get a paycheck for those long range predictions,
did a flip/flop and said that there was now a 40% chance for rain on both days.
Well, mid Missouri got every bit of that 40% and then some. By Noon on Saturday,
you might as well have said it was a 100% likelihood that it might rain, since
plenty of it was falling. And not only at 24 Raceway in Moberly, Missouri, but
all over the north Missouri and Iowa areas. All this is to say that the report
from 24 Raceway was one of rain out and the weekly racing series will resume
next weekend July 31st.
The $50 Pepsi challenge is still in effect for the B-modifieds, with the
bonus going to any other B-mod beating
Kelly Smith's #82
on the track next time out. And in the Sportsman class, the Pepsi Challenge
grows to $100 for any other Sportsman car defeating
Jeff Creed's #01
on the track, also at the next race.
Kids 12 and under, can win a new bicycle in a free drawing from the
Junior Race Fan Club during each night of racing. Next week's sponsors for the
bike program are Dave Kinder (racing the #3 yellow Dodge Thunder Truck) and "Mr.
Mopar" Bob Hubert, both of Moberly. And plenty of local sponsors donate numerous
prizes to be won by both adults and kids alike.
Each week's results, as well the list of season points accumulated by the
drivers, can be viewed after Monday on our website of
www.24racewayinmoberly.com .
The orange and white racecar being shown at the track, an open wheel
modified without the engine or transmission and courtesy of the Melloway race
teams of Hallsville, and the winning ticket is set to be drawn on the night of
August 7 during a Hobby Stock Special with the ticket prices at only $5 a
chance! Don't miss the chance to get these tickets while you can by purchasing
them at the grandstand sign-up area where the other prize give-aways are
displayed. You don't have to be present to win, but the best way to get one is
to come to the races and buy your ticket! This is a chance to either get into
racing with a heck of a head start, or to upgrade from one of the lower classes.
Dirt Track Racing at Its Best begins at 7pm with a driver's meeting, then
hot laps, starting at 6pm. Kids ticket prices are only $3 to get in and adults
are $8. Pit passes are $20. Brought to you in part by Bentz GM Country of Macon
and the Best Western / Moberly Inn.
