24 Raceway, Moberly, MO, report & results for Aug 28

by Ron Lueck

24 Raceway - The USRA Stock Car / Sportsman class ran a 20-lap race before the USMTS A-Main show, and Newton, IA driver, Mike Van Genderen dominated this one.  Huntsville's Derrick Agee gave Van Genderen a challenge for most of the race, but had to settle in for a runner-up finish, as these two ran one-two for the entire race.  Iowa drivers Shane Weller and Steve Jackson were doing the same type of close racing for the 3rd position for most of the race also, only it was about a dozen car lengths back.  Jackson got around Weller on lap 8 and stayed there to finish in third.

In the Hornet Special, there were just a couple of cautions and a race-stopping red flag early on at lap 3, as Richard Doctorian ended up on his roof in turn 3.  Through the restarts, Rob Chase of Clark, led the field to the green, with Moberly's John Baker (JB) right behind on every lap.  The last half of the race went caution free with Chase using lapped traffic to hold off Baker.  Tanner Burton from Centralia, moved into third on lap 7 and ran untouched there for most of the race, getting his best-ever finish.
