Hopefully, Mother Nature will send the sunshine this weekend as The 24 Raceway in Moberly, Missouri hosts the MLRA Late Models on Saturday, July 11th for the Oscar White Memorial. A-Mods, Hornets, and Hobby Stocks will also be in action. Stay for the Fireworks show after the races! Coffeyville, Kansas resident Al Purkey continues to lead the MLRA season long points battle as he holds a narrow 32 point lead over defending Series Champion John Anderson. Belton, Missouri's Alan Vaughn continues to hold down the third spot, despite fighting overheating trouble last week at I-80 Speedway. Vaughn sits just 16 behind Anderson and is only 48 points out of the top spot. Omaha, Nebraska's Joe Kosiski sits in fourth with perennial nice guy David Turner rounding out the Top-5. Mendon, Illinois' Denny Woodworth occupies the sixth spot in the points, just 2 points ahead of Hermitage, Missouri's Eric Turner. "Racin" Jason Bodenhamer sits in seventh, only one point behind Turner. Council Bluffs, Iowa's Mike Collins and former Champion Terry Phillips round out the Top 10. Click www.MLRAracing.com for complete and updates points. A great rookie battle is also taking shape as Walnut Grove, Missouri's Jeremy Kelley leads the Rookie Battle by just 3 points over Archie, Missouri's Matt Johnson. Rylan Long also has a Top 20 season points run going and is just 30 points behind Kelley. All three drivers have had up and down seasons as they adjust to the world of series racing visiting many of the tracks for the first time. The second half of the season should bode well for all three of them as they become more consistent and comfortable racing with some of the best dirt late model drivers in the midwest. The reschedule dates for the last two races of the Independence Day Freedom Tour are close to being finalized. An announcement will be published in the next couple of days as we will make up both dates that were rained out over the July 4th weekend. Please continue to watch www.MLRAracing.com for details.
